Hello and a warm welcome from the MacDonell family! Let us introduce ourselves: from left to right, meet Seamus, Mike, Quinn, and Lindsay. We're a close-knit family with a shared passion for nature and a zest for embracing new adventures.
Our journey began back in 2022 when we collectively decided to embark on a life-changing adventure. We waved goodbye to our fast-paced, urban lifestyle in Ottawa, driven by a shared dream to build something unique and meaningful in a tranquil, rural setting in Nova Scotia. Our love for the great outdoors, coupled with a keen interest in gardening and animal care, has always been a significant part of our lives.
However, it was our enchanting visits to several Alpaca farms that truly ignited our passion and set our course. We were captivated by the gentle nature and serene presence of these wonderful creatures and felt an overwhelming desire to spread the joy and tranquility they offer to others.
The decision to pack up our lives and move eastward, bringing with us our profound love for animals and nature, was a remarkably easy one. We felt an irresistible pull towards a simpler, more fulfilling life, connected to the land and the animals we care for.
Now, we are thrilled to extend an invitation to you to visit our new haven, Kennington Farms. It's not just a farm; it's a dream realized, a sanctuary where the beauty of nature meets the warmth of family. The Estate
Discover the allure of "The Mann House," an eye-catching estate built in 1835, renowned locally for its historic charm and unique architectural features. This nearly two-hundred-year-old captain's house, along with its beautifully maintained grounds, stands as a proud testament to the resilience and timeless beauty of period architecture.
One of the most captivating characteristics of The Mann House is its two symmetrical front doors. This distinctive feature has sparked much curiosity and fascination, leading many to ponder: is the “Mann House” actually one singular structure or cleverly disguised as two? While we cherish our privacy and don't offer tours inside our home, this intriguing mystery remains a delightful topic for speculation and discussion among our visitors and passersby.
The property, with its well-preserved exterior and enchanting grounds, offers a glimpse into the past and ignites the imagination. As you stroll around the estate, you'll be transported back in time, feeling the echoes of history with every step. The Mann House is not just a home; it's a landmark, a piece of history, and a story that continues to fascinate and inspire.
The Herd
In the chilly embrace of Winter 2023, Kennington Farms embarked on an exciting new chapter with the arrival of our very first herd of alpacas. This momentous occasion saw the addition of four charming alpacas - Rosie, Jodi, Aussie, and Buffy - each bringing their own unique personality and charm to our farm. They have swiftly become integral members of our Kennington family, infusing our days with joy and warmth.
More recently, our alpaca family grew with the arrival of Fluffy, a delightful and spirited new member. With Fluffy joining the fold, our burgeoning herd now stands at five, each alpaca a cherished part of our expanding family.
As we journey through the rewarding process of expanding our herd and deepening our understanding of these magnificent creatures, we are eager to share our experiences with you. We are committed to not just caring for these beautiful animals, but also learning from them, and we invite you to be a part of this journey.
